The opportunity
We are looking for a motivated individual to join our Operations Unit as a Works Officer/Aerodrome Reporting Officer. In this dual role, you will be a key part of our team providing skilled labour and operating Council's plant to support road maintenance and construction. You will also serve as the Aerodrome Reporting Officer for the Corowa Aerodrome, ensuring its safety and functionality.
In this role you will:
Undertake Works Officer duties such as but not limited to:
- Construct, maintain, and repair Council's civil infrastructure, including roads.
- Prepare and pour concrete for various assets.
- Inspect and install roadside furnishings like signs and barriers.
- Perform traffic control duties as needed to ensure public safety.
Undertake Aerodrome Reporting Officer duties such as but not limited to:
- Conduct visual inspections of the aerodrome to ensure all movement areas are safe for use.
- Observe, monitor, and report on all activities at the aerodrome.
- Ensure the facility complies with all government aviation regulations and airport policies.
- Assist with general grounds maintenance.
- Providing customer service to Aerodrome user group.
This role requires flexibility to work additional hours on occasion and participation in our after-hours on-call roster.
Essential key criteria to be addressed in applications
- Hold Airport Reporting Officer Skill Set and Works Safety Officer qualification, or ability to achieve.
- Hold Drug and Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP) Awareness training, or ability to achieve.
- Hold a current and valid Medium Rigid (MR) Licence.
- Hold certificates of competency to operate a variety of plant such as skid steer, excavator, loader etc.
- Hold a General Construction Induction Certificate (White Card).
- Demonstrated relevant experience working in a construction environment or similar.
- Show initiative in solving problems, improving methods and productivity along with the ability to seek guidance and advice where required.
Note: We will provide the successful applicant with training in Airport Reporting Officer Skill Set/Works Safety Officer qualification and Drug and Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP) Awareness training if not already held.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s policies and conditions of employment. The salary is commencing at $1,273.50 per week plus standard Award allowances with progression up to $1,405.60 per week plus standard Award allowances, dependent upon skills and experience.
